Dr. Ilse Ruyssen is assistant professor at the Department of General Economics (Ghent University) where she is involved in several courses in (international) economics. She obtained her PhD in Economic Sciences from Ghent University in 2013 after which she spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at IRES (Université Catholique de Louvain) and Ghent University. Her main research interests lie in the driving forces behind internal and international migration, migrant’s location choice, migration policy, network effects and consequences of international migration. As of 2015, Ilse is coordinator of the interdisciplinary Migration Working Group at Ghent University and she is involved in several research projects concerning the economics of international migration. She also has affiliations with the University of Antwerp (as guest lecturer at the Department of Economics) and with IRES (as research fellow).
