Ana Mosneaga is a migration policy specialist with core expertise in labour migration management. Currently, Ana works as the lead researcher on the Fukushima Global Communication Programme. She holds a Ph.D. in human geography from the University of Copenhagen with a focus on the management of international student mobility as a subgroup of skilled migration. During her PhD, Ana was a guest researcher in the International Migration Branch of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva. Before joining UNU, Ana worked for the Immigration and Integration Unit of the Directorate-General Home Affairs of the European Commission in Brussels and held positions with multinational companies in Copenhagen. Additionally, Ana has studied in Japan, Australia and Norway and received her BA and MSc degrees in human geography with a focus on international development studies. Ana grew up in Kyoto and is a native speaker of Japanese and Russian, and is also fluent in English and Danish.
Ana’s research interests include cross-cutting policy areas such as management of migration and mobility, employment creation and socio-economic development. Ana has published in several journals such as International Migration, Population, Space and Place and Globalisation, Societies and Education and has contributed a book chapter to a volume published from Springer Indian skilled migration and development: To Europe and back. Besides, she has provided inputs as an expert to various media outlets.
