Dr. Tamer Afifi holds a PhD Degree in Economics (International Trade) from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, a Master of Arts Degree in Economics of Development from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, The Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, Egypt. Tamer has worked for five years as a Lecturer of Economics at the Faculty of Commerce, Sohag University, Egypt, before being promoted to Assistant Professor. He has mainly lectured Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Trade and Econometrics.
During his work at Sohag University, he has also supervised undergraduate and graduate students and organized and coordinated international university exchange programmes. Prior to his work at UNU-EHS, Tamer joined the Bonn International Graduate School (BIGS-DR) of the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany, where his main area of research was International Economics and Regional Trade Agreements.
