Migration is a central theme in contemporary policymaking as it strikes to the core of critical aspects of national and global governance. This policy brief offers a brief overview of current discussions pertaining to the global and regional governance of migration. The focus is on the European Union and the Southern African Development Community and their current policies on social protection of migrants, including an exploration of the idea of free movement of people within the regions.
