Although international law and policy relating to statelessness arose in parallel to that relating to refugee status, the two protection regimes have developed differently. This project examines the development of the notion of statelessness in the international legal framework, and how this relates to two developing areas of particular concern to enabling the protection of stateless persons. These are: detention and private companies in migration control.
